Rumor is that the Katz now have the lease on the first fire's property on 204 across from Foodtown. If the Katz were really committed to the neighborhood, they would work to ensure that this area was not a food desert swallowed by 99 Cent Stores. This is capitalism at its worse

But, as patrons of Foodtown, you can push them to give you the store you want. Make sure you are vocal about what you want -- they have an item request sheet. Also, the store has a great organic selection because people voiced their concern for wanting more organics at Community Board Meetings. The Katz know that more and more people with cars are moving into this area. These auto drivers can now easily get on the Deegan and go to Costco and Whole Foods. Foodtown will loose business if they do not give the customers what they want... make capitalism and the Katz work for you by being vocal about your supermarket needs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6850750806594927202.post-46557013326458176692011-03-14T11:23:24.089-04:002011-03-14T11:23:24.089-04:00didnt the Katz family in the 80s and early 90s buy...didnt the Katz family in the 80s and early 90s buy up different properties to keep competition out? I remember they bought the property of what is now the CVS to squelch any competition. Let's not make them out to be saints. They're in this to make money. You get be certain they dont pay all of their workers a living wage AND they got government subsidies to rebuild on that location. There's not too much philanthropy and altruism in this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6850750806594927202.post-8262622036104566672011-03-13T21:28:41.796-04:002011-03-13T21:28:41.796-04:00wonderful story , the Katz family are truly commit...wonderful story , the Katz family are truly committed to our neighborhoodAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
