He just changed his party lines to Democrat specifically to run in this district. Leadership of what??? What has he done? Protesting about the Fordaham Library does not cut it. Anyway he wasn't the first to voice dissent about the Library, it was Yorman who spoke first and spoke loudest. No one has heard of this guy Cabrera ever. Yudelka Tapia may have lost elections but at least she has run for office in the past...and by the way losing doesn't make a person unqualified. She has been honest about herself and her campaign thats more than Cabrera can say. And what about Mr. Cabrera's stance on gay marraige and a woman's right to choose. Why don't his supporters chime in on this? So, he has no experience, no past evidence of ever having done anything substantial in the community, and I don't want to hear about what he has done for the church, that's not the community, he is a liar about where he lives and a deceiving opportunist about his party affiliation. Can someone Tell me again why he should get my vote...loyalty is a great thing only when it's based on facts and principles that merit it. Cabrera hasn't shown these. Let us all change...Yes should be working very hard! Let us all change this community together and united. We should stop electing the same type of politicians. I was born and raised in the 14th District and to my knowledge, other than advocacy for the Fordham Library and the Kingsbridge Armory, Dr. Cabrera has not done anything else. He owns a home in Pelham, New York(Not Parkway) which when I last checked is not in the 14th City Council District. Here we go again endorsing the same old politicians that move into the district in order to run. As for the results that speak for themselves...c'mon this new Bronx Democratic Committee?! I will leave that for another blog. Please, I just ask that you all do your research before you jump on the bandwagon! Do you know who that will be? Dr. Fernando Cabrera of course and why? He has a vision for District 14 to see it change for the better. Ask yourself this: aren't you sick and tired of seeing District 14 get second rated or 'hand me downs' or the 'left overs' in resources? and do you know why that has been happening, because those prior in office has had a personal agenda instead of an agenda regarding the people of District 14. I personally consider that to be a dis-service to the people of District 14 and they deserve better. I know that once Dr.Cabrera takes seat in office not only will the people of District 14 be Grateful but finally District 14 will have a voice to be heard. The 'nay sayer(s)' will be silenced not by a rebuttal, but by the evidence of change that will happen in District 14. For those of you that missed the whole point of what I'm trying to say let me sum it up for you: My vote is with Dr. Fernando Cabrera.cameilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03981813263858128803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6850750806594927202.post-30116003055021143812009-06-11T04:30:00.598-04:002009-06-11T04:30:00.598-04:00(Hey John-John Any Words For Such A Intense Blog A...(Hey John-John Any Words For Such A Intense Blog As This??......)

All I can say is......

WH0A!!...What is all that in your blood???....I say you can argue motives and the nonsence that people obviously can't let go of but you can NEVER! argue or challenge RESULTS! and obviously we can see that all of the Cabrera-haters here have forgotten the very article that stands above these comments. It shows the level of trust and respect that he has been able to demonstrate. Dr. Cabrera truly has a heart for people. I admire his determination to go out and make a difference regardless of what people may say or think. Our nation was built on people making a stand with integrity!!!!!

Dr. Cabrera has spent many years working with drug addicted youth and adults. He is committed to mentoring young adult and adults alike and will do anything in his power to strengthen families. Even before this campaign, Dr. Cabrera has been at work in and around our community. During September 11th, when everyone was running away from the twin towers, as a private citizen he made his way down to the site to help in counseling people. When the AA 587 flight to Santo Domingo crashed in Queens, he was there counseling and comforting the surviving families. After Katrina, he flew to Louisiana to assist in setting up an emergency shelter and triage… and this is just a few of the more public events, I can go on and on….

Slander for many, comes easy. Most people can talk up a good game. I do believe it is a misrepresentation because he has never openly spoken about his so called Dominican roots. Also I have seen him speak at several events and the man does not even speak English properly let alone Spanish. Any and every elected official should represent all races and ethnicities but the 14th Council District is predominantly Dominican and what a coincidence that Cabrera is Dominican all of a sudden. So in the Bronx Political Machine your race does make a difference in terms of who you get mobilized to vote for you. It shouldn't matter because we are all on the same boat at the end of the day. Dr. Cabrera will represent every race and color of District 14. Secondly, This past year Cabrera has opened a church in Santiago for the people of the Dominican Republic. A church that will service the community with social, emotional and spiritual resources including a drug rehab program which will open in the near future. He does not misrepresent himself. These are the facts. In my opinion, this is a awesome display of concern and support for the Dominican people. This is a blog welcoming "comments" I don't know how much more simple to put it.

Anonymous, (in a non threatening and humble tone)I may have worked with you as I have with many many people in the old and new factions of the party. Who I stand behind is a candidate that I have supported YEARS before he had even planned to run. I stood side by side with him on major community projects, even when I worked in government in the "Old party" days. I am very happy that he is catching on with the democratic party and Working Families. I am sure that many of the reasons the democratic and working families party chose to support Dr. Cabrera will surface with enough time, maybe even on Gary's show- which is a great venue I must add.. Also, Thanks for the compliment- I can't see myself being blinded however, I am just helping a person who has helped me and MANY more people. If you knew me well enough, you would know that I never had aspirations to run for office- I am only a humble, selfless person who enjoys helping others. Having said that, 100% of my efforts in this race are to get Cabrera elected because of what he can do for the district. The biggest problem with Bronx Politics is that the majority of people who come out to vote never really pay attention to substance, vision, or policy. In addition, they don't even look into the background of candidates. I used to work the polls, and I can't even tell you how many times on election day, the voters ask me "who should they choose?" This shows you how disconnected the people are from their elected's.

As long as people in the Bronx continue to be uneducated about their leaders and hold them accountable, our communities will continue to be underserved.

The truth is GAX, the Democratic leaders in place now under Heastie and in the past under Rivera need the community to be ignorant for their agenda to prosper. The mindless selfish ambitions of our decorated "Bronx Leaders" has left the community to perish.

What real efforts has any of our leaders made to really educate the electorate? Hopefully someone could provide an answer with substance and not cheerleading rhetoric.

Although, I am aware of all of the above mentioned, I am very optimistic. Tapia has a lot more local contributors than any other candidate in the 14th District race, even the incumbent. This should speak for itself. As for the Anonymous that said Tapia ran before and lost. I believe it says a lot about a person who wants to serve her community and will continue to run and fight for her community whether she has lost or not. If we look at most elected officials, you will find that most of them ran and lost their first time around. Losing should never stop anyone from doing what they feel is the right thing for their community. Something else that should speak for itself. Cabrera claiming that he is Dominican and Puerto Rican is very surprising because his website and or Bio has never said anything about him being Dominican.
