If Pedro Espada wins the 33rd Senate District primary against incumbent Efrain Gonzalez, let's hope it's not because he sent these to registered Democrats in the district. (Margaret Groarke is my wife, by the way. I got one, too, but threw it out before I thought of taking this picture.)
And then this came in the mail from the Espada campaign. I offer it without commentary ...
I got this too, and I hear it's been his practice for a long time. The envelope said something like "Your personal voting certificate is inside!" which seems pretty clearly intended to make people think that this certificate is part of the electoral process, that maybe they can't vote without it, or whatever. Sending out fake-official election materials should be illegal -- but if it isn't in this case, I'll be happy to just not vote for the guy who mailed them out. (Too bad I can't bring myself to vote for Gonzalez either.)
