The Village Voice has a good follow up piece on the Rivera-Gillibrand rift (http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/archives/2009/01/gillibrand_hire.php). The article notes that Assembly member Rivera has softened his rhetoric since the newly appointed Senator hired the Mirram Group, a consulting firm with close ties to the Hispanic community. Hopefully, NYC elected officials will hold Senator Gillibrand accountable for her past votes and current position on immigration issues and not be swayed by a PR blitz.
