In more good news for the revitalized Bronx River, some (or at least one) of the 201 herring released into the river in 2006 have
returned to spawn, following three years at sea.
The fish will be sharing the 23-mile river with ducks, herons, turtles, muskrats, and a
beaver named Jose.

Maybe leave it in the water so it can live and come back again?
ReplyDeleteMost that they've found were live. This was probably one of several that they found dead.
ReplyDeleteMy mistake. This was one of the live ones (notice the tail is blurred, probably because it was moving when the picture was taken). That's not a problem, though. The fish can survive short periods out of water to be measured and cataloged.
