A survey recently released by the Department of Health lists the Bronx, along with the Upper East Side of Manhattan, as having the highest levels of air pollution in New York City.
If the MTA cuts the Bx14 bus line, which it plans to do, residents of the Country Club section of the Bronx will have to walk about a mile to access public transportation.

ReplyDeleteregarding the report that shows poor air quality in high-priced areas... didn't mayor bloomberg (the environmental mayor) recently exempt large luxury buildings from the city's recently-imposed environmental standards for buildings? kind of flies in the face of this latest study, doesn't it? certainly i wouldn't suggest that the mayor would be giving his rich friends a free pass even though it is harmful to the general populace, would i?
