About the Bronx News Network

Bronx News Network (BxNN) is a nonprofit organization founded by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a nonprofit support corporation of Montefiore Medical Center, which publishes the award-winning Norwood News.

BxNN’s mission is to provide high quality local news and information in neighborhoods where no one else does. We engage, inform and empower residents so they can hold decision makers accountable and build strong communities.

BxNN publishes this blog/website, on which we post news updates, daily Bronx news roundups, an events calendar, and much more. In 2009, the Village Voice chose the BxNN blog as one of the 18 best in the city.

BxNN publishes the Mount Hope Monitor and the Tremont Tribune, both monthly bi-lingual newspapers, and runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Initiative. BxNN also partners with other nonprofit media in the Bronx such as the Hunts Point Express and the Mott Haven Herald.

Bronx News Network is supported by foundation grants, reader contributions and advertising. To make a contribution click here. To advertise on this website or in any of our newspapers, call (718) 324-4998.

BxNN grew out of the success of the Norwood News which, as far as we know, is the oldest nonprofit community newspaper in the country.
