Espaillat calls Tapia a 'Bad Dominican'

Yudelka Tapia's campaign wants Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat to apologize after he allegedly called her a "bad Dominican" during last Sunday's Dominican Day Parade.

Espaillat, a Dominican-American who represents parts of Upper Manhattan, has endorsed Fernando Cabrera, an opponent of Tapia's in the race for the 14th District City Council seat.

"In our community there are good Dominicans and there are bad Dominicans and that is why I am supporting Fernando Cabrera," Espillat told the Public Access show Contacto, according to Tapia's campaign.

"Assemblyman Espillat [sic] needs to apologize to all of the women of the Bronx for maligning one of our most distinguished community leaders," said Lucila Rutinel, who heads the Committee Dominicanas for Yudelka, in a press release. "In this climate when so many public officials have come under investigatory scrutiny it is offensive for Assemblyman Espiallat [sic] to refer to our sister - whom he knows well - as a Bad Dominican."

  1. Interesting. Elected officials shouldn't resort to that type of slandering, however. She may not be the most qualified, and Assembly Espaillat obviously chose not to support her, but that doesn't make her a BAD person.

  2. Oh my God. I think Espaillat has been living "la vida loca." Obviously he knows nothing about the bronx, not only supporting a "imported-republican" but totally ignoring the real leaders of the bronx. Come on Espaillat that the kind of support you choose for your own people. You better not show up to the bronx site lately, I think you will get the same response Cabrera and Baez has been getting from the D14 people. Oh my God, my grand mother says "you don't know who you work for"

    Anything to do with Espaillat?

  3. Yudelka's press people can't even spell his name right and they want an apology from Espaillat? And I don't see anything about Tapia in Espaillat's quote. Once again, all that Tapia can do is draw attention to herself by making a scene. Embarrassing.

  4. I just have 1 question.............and it is the reason we have created our club in the first place.......(NWB Democrats)......Does it matter what an "outsider thinks"??? It does not matter, to me, what Espillat thinks, does not think............IS HE IS WILLING TO COME AFTER %PM...........and join me to the lovely mountains of Fordham & Sedgwick.........Or slide down the hill to Bailey Ave...........or wait....my former Home...1801 Loring (On Burnside Ave)...........If Espillat or anyone who comments and does not know these areas.....ITS THE 14CD......... stay out of our community. Community should always represent community

  7. Ridiculous it is all ridiculous. Cabrera's suppoters don't catch even one ball. 34 days that is exactly what we have lef, 34 more days, after that I wont see Cabrera's face anymore. People face the true A.D.R.I.A.NO. E.S.P.A.I.L.L.A.T make a BIG mistake and the voters will take that into account by rejecting his comments against any leaders of the Bronx, or Ms. Tapia, whoever he try to disminish with his out-of-context comments. We will make him to see that we-the-voters are really watching the ugly, the bad and, Cabrera the lyer.

I can see that anonymous above is another Yudelka Supporter that obviously writes the way a non-proper dominican would speak. If you ask me i would say that its Yudelka herself writing on the blogs since she is just as badd at speaking and writing in english, And she wants to run for city coucil for my distrit??....YEA RIGHT!!!. That should be a mandate to run for office. MUST SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH AND MUST SHOW UP TO WORK. LOL!!.....it cracks me up everytime

  9. A narcistic person thinks everyone is speaking about him/her whenever a general statement has been made. I did not read Tapia's name mentioned in his speech. I can only assume that she saw that the foot "fit" just right regarding the "shoe" he mentioned.

Let's get real here, Yudelka's supporter have been crying everytime the multitudes of endorsements have come Cabrera's way. The only good people are the ones who would endorse her, but since no one has endorsed her, everyone else is bad. Umm.

It is sad that she is attacking a first class assemblyman, who was the first Dominican assemblyman to run for office. Yudelka has no respect for Dominican elected officials who have made great stride and accomplishment for the rest of the Dominicans who follow. It just simply speaks very loudly of her narcistic tendencies. She is just dying to get a viable endorsement, so much, she made up one up - DC37. DC37, her union, has endorsed Cabrera. Yudelka supporters, don't you get it, everyone else has?
She can even get her financials in order to get matching funds.

Cabrera is the leader we need NOW.

  10. Sidekick to Mr. Bond, you dare talk about grammar?? coucil? distrit? The pot calling the kettle black. This is a nation of immigrants, I don't think we should mock the fact that people don't speak English perfectly. Especially when you cannot write it yourself.

Juan Quintana, Yudelka has no respect for Dominican elected officials? When has she been disprespectful to a Dominican elected official? Besides, last I checked there weren't that many Dominican elected officials to be disrespectful towards.

Cabrera is not from the Bronx. He is from Pelham. And he was a Republican for decadesbefore he became a Democrat. When did that become acceptable? I want to see a debate where he is asked the tough questions.

  11. So when was it acceptable for Castro to run and become a Democrat? How about Hilary Clinton? Oh you must of forgotten that Hilary Clinton did not qualify to become our senator. But, we got her in... see the link of qualifications.

Yudelka works as a city auditor??? so what happened to her matching funds? Someone didn't do their job right....and she wants to become my city council...NOT!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ummmm so why didn't she get matching funds, crook, she probably did crooked stuff and got caught. Good, we don't need another, Maria Baez, Arroyo's, Martinez.......etc. YUDELKA go back to DR. Where you can run you crooked campaigns, with your lies ... not to mention your personal life...or should we go there....?

  13. FYI: When you mention Yudelka's name to the community, they have not clue who she is and can't even pronounce her name...LOL

Yudelka is not a bad dominican but she sure is a bad representation of the D14. I dont want someone like her who only highly favors the dominican population of the D14. Ask Mr. Anthony Riveccio he would tell you!!

Weschester,NY.-Adriano Espaillat Should not be a judge on dominicans, good or bad. Also who is he to go around "throwing rocks", because for every fat pig at some point their "San Martin" arrives. It is better for him to mind his own business, and business... for example, what is about to happen next to "La Casa Duarte". Where are the $3,700,000? Where are the stars of this (USdl) "reparto"? The saga of investigations that is ruining Miguel Martinez threatens territories controled by Espaillat.
Yudelka Tapia has won role at the cost blood, sweat and fire. Nobody neglects that a public figure like Yudelka cannot make a mistake. But her percentage in the political terrain is very high and is based on arguments whether short or long have been confirmed.
Yudelka Tapia is also a politician, a candidate, and a woman, here, is exactly where espaillat's car needs to hit the brakes.
The game of the ethnic unit played by Espaillat, Gillermo Linares, and the ones who have worked for them or in their offices and their umbrella organizations and partially Miguel Martinez who hase played the same game has plenty of data and it is about time to evaluate this game. The etnic unit should be marching through two routes inside and outside... The value of a politician is to know how to conjugate it in each circumstance. What is it worth being latina if I cannot assume myself as a Dominican. That is a dangerous game to acuse someone of dividing communities. even in math it is relative to use the word "division". Any digit or number can be divided. In fact there is an infinite amount of numbers between any two numbers which can be reached by dividing. In the political terrain because I am not a mathmatician even though I have used the expierience of being a terrible student in math, who said that the Puerto Rican community is totally unified. It is the same being Nuyorican, Jibaro, Puero Rican Diaspora, Puertorriceno-Independentista, or Boricua "de pura sepa", if the Puerto rican Politician make believe in that unity and extract benifits from it, is pure Demagogia... just like Espaillat uses it.
Does Espaillat as Assembleman "Dominicano" believes that he represents all Dominicans and has right to use "la Dominicanidad" when he pleases, and with it disqualify "Titiri Mundachi".
In my opinion, the candidate of District 14 Yudelka Tapia does not divide, uses intelligently the political strengths that ethnically measures "campo" in District 14 Everything for a better distribution of power in the communities both Puerto Ricans and Dominicans.
