Community Garden Party

On Saturday, Oct. 9, The New York Restoration Project held its 2nd Annual Harvest Festival at the Target Bronx Community Garden, on Anderson Avenue and 165th Street, just a couple blocks away from Yankee Stadium. The event ran from 3-7:00 p.m.



As soon as I arrived, I made a beeline towards the freshly prepared guacamole and salsa, which tasted great with a side of tortilla chips. Then I tried the apple cider, and even though it wasn't homeade, it was still very good. I didn't get to eat the s'mores, but everyone was enjoying making them--kids and adults. There was also live music and a pumpkin carving contest.





One of the highlights of the afternoon was the green market where I bought a big bunch of beets, carrots, and a butternut squash all for $2.50. I even got a NYRP canvas bag to bring home my goodies.



It was great to be outside amid so much greenery and enjoying the warm weather. The garden grows lots of different flowers and vegetables, and I even caught a picture of a red pepper growing.

Harvest Festival Tomorrow

To celebrate the start of the fall season, The New York Restoration Project is hosting the Harvest Festival tomorrow (10/9) at the Target Bronx Community Garden on 1025 Anderson Avenue (between 164th St. and 165th St.) from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sip on hot cider and snack on s'mores while you shop at the greenmarket and listen to live music. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest from 3-4:00 p.m.
