If you were wondering why you haven't been hearing about any elections going on in the Bronx tomorrow, it's because there are none. District Attorney Robert Johnson, a Democrat, is up for reelection but he is running uncontested in the general election, and he even scored the Republican and Conservative lines, as did his Queens counterpart, Richard Brown.

Election day with no real elections...Does the Bronx ever have any close elections
ReplyDeleteUsually, if there is a close election, it's in the Democratic primary. I'd have to check on the exact spread, but Adolfo Carrion didn't beat Pedro Espada by much in his 2001 bid for borough president. And in Naomi Rivera's successful run for reelection to the Assemlby last year, Joe Thompson, an east Bronx community activist who ran in the general election on the Conservative line, actually came within striking distance. Anyone have any other examples of close Bronx elections?
