Carrion misses out on HUD post

So Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion won't serve as Barack Obama's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Instead, the president-elect chose Shaun Donovan, New York City's housing commissioner.

The Associated Press calls the appointment "something of a surprise." (One of the few to call it was the West Bronx Blog's very own Nick Napolitano. See comments at this end of this post.)

Carrion could still be in the running for other high-level positions.

  1. I know that some may not agree that Adolfo is worth of a post in Obama's administration but as you already know, I differ on this. Adolfo is the best Latino out there worthy of a post. I did not noticed much support for him to be a possible pick as the next US Senator from New York but I hope we can cheer his candidacy for this coveted post without any reservations. Simply put, he deserves it. And for those of us who have been advcating for more Latino representation in all levels of government, we should celebrate (as soon as it is confirmed and announced by the President-elect).
