Bronx Apartment Building Workers Rally for New Contract

Bronx apartment building workers are holding a rally today at Franz Segal Park in the Bronx on 153rd Street and the Grand Concourse. Workers say they are asking for a fair contract.

32BJ Vice President Kyle Bragg, Congressman José E. Serrano, State Senator Jeffrey Klein, Assembly members Carl Heastie, Vanessa Gibson, as well Council members Larry Seabrook, Fernando Cabrera are expected to attend the rally.

According to a press release from 32BJ Service Employees International Union, workers are calling upon the association of building owners known as Bronx Realty Advisory Board (BRAB) to sign a fair agreement before the current contract expires at 12:01 A.M. on March 15.

Contract negations have been underway since February and issues such as health care and retirement savings are still unresolved. Bronx apartment building workers warn that failure to reach a new contract could result in a strike of 3,000 apartment building workers at over 1,000 residential buildings throughout the Bronx.
