'The Bronx is Beautiful'

It's on the verge of becoming a genre.

Another site has materialized highlighting Bronx real estate. In the case of The Bronx is Beautiful, the photos of south Bronx living quarters and their environs are beautiful themselves. We found out about this through the Boogiedowner of course.

  1. I finally had a chance to check out this site, and I have to say it bothers me. I've never been one to knock on the beauty of the Bronx, but read the contact page and you see it was set up by a real estate firm; read "the idea" page of this site and you see it's all about encouraging the gentrification of the Yankee Stadium area, and the "Bronx Pioneers" heading up from Manhattan. They even site statistics on how many thousand have already made the move -- but they neglect to mention most of them have been lower income families being priced out of Washington Heights and East Harlem.

  2. i have yet to run into someone who moved in from washington heights and east harlem who were lower income people moving in...quite the opposite in fact most of the people i've seen and met moving in (and i'm a lifetime resident here of 33yrs) are professionals who are making smart money choices to get a bigger bang for their buck. they have been priced out of manhattan and most fringe neighborhoods in the borough and the south bronx was the natural "last" fringe neighborhood to go to...except here by the time the wave gets here we already have much better services and ammenities in place than washington heights and other neighborhoods...i mean i live 3 blocks from 149th/3rd avenue on the 2 and 5 express trains, just 2 stops into manhattan...where else in the city can you go into a subway station that will take you to midtown west or midtown east in 20 minutes or less? no where.
