State Sen. Gustavo Rivera, still looking to lock down a permanent district office, will be holding office hours at the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, 3450 Dekalb Ave, from 4 to 7 p.m. today.
The new senator opted not to take over the former office of his predecessor, the embattled and recently indicted Pedro Espada, and told us last week that he's hoping to set up shop on the Grand Concourse, across the street from Loew's Paradise Theater.
In the meantime, he's been working from the Senate Democrats' offices in downtown Manhattan and meeting with constituents at locations throughout the district, a spokeswoman said, adding that the office delay should be resolved in the next few weeks.
"I am committed to reaching out to my constituents in the 33rd Senate District," Rivera said. "Since my district office isn't ready, I want to make sure to be in the community and ensure my constituents know how to get ahold of me and my staff."

Why come these 33rd district people cant get an office oopen on time? Didn't you all crucify Pedro for delaying the opening of his office? Gustavito knew he would need an office back in Sept. What's the delay?
ReplyDeleteI dont care what kind of excuse or justification he has to why he does not have an office. I have yet to hear anything from Sen. Rivera except for excuses. By the time he gets an office it will be time for him to run for re-election and you can definately bet that he will NOT have my vote this time. This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!
ReplyDeleteGustavo, Gustavo, Gustavo! An individual who was elected because, let's be honest, everyone (including me) wanted Pedro out. He was lucky. Those of us who have lived in this district for a very long time have never even heard of Gustavo Rivera. He worked for US Senator Gillibrand and couldn't even get her official endorsement. He worked for President Obama, and not ONE individual associated to Obama was behind him. So, he was lucky and I hope that he lives up to his duties. You will hear alot from him, that I guarantee you. But there will be very little, if any, real substance behind me. In other words, ask Senator Rivera in a few months or by next year: WHERE'S THE BEEF?

ReplyDeleteIf Gustavo's trying to find a district office, why not he use Nelson Castro's old office at 2488 Grand Concourse? Nelson just moved into a new one at 2175C Jerome Av in University Heights. For the time being, Rivera could use Castro's old office.
