Tearing It Up ... But Tearing It Down?

CBS News has this photo of the removal of the turf at the old Yankee Stadium.

But when will they tear the stadium down to make room for new community ballfields? The countdown continues.

Neil deMause has more on the Yankee/Parks situation here.

  1. Well, here's what they're doing with the sod.

    Just another scheme for money.

  2. Here's what I would do.

Leave the bottom structure up. Lots of room inside the stadium for parkland.

With the bottom structure up, spaces can be rented out for restaurants, bars, game center for kids, an old fashion movie house, etc.

This way here, the Bronx will keep part of a very historic place, the children will have a historic place in which to play in, and money can be made by renting the bottom structure out to businesses.
