i love the norwood news. it's an outstanding community newspaper and vital to all of us. i haven't had a chance to read this new issue yet, but i will do so... cover to cover... as i do every issue.
ReplyDeletehowever, there is a major story that this edition of norwood news ignored as did this blog
(and other media, too) and i can't figure out why.
last sunday assemblyman jeffrey dinowitz put out a press release indicating that an evacuation because of a bomb scare at the bronx HS of science did not go as well as possible because of a lack of support by the NYPD, FDNY, OEM, and DEP.
because of this, he claims - and the bronx science and UFT chapter agree - that in the case of a more serious incident, in particular a chlorine release at the reservoir, students and teachers would be put unnecessarily in danger.
this story is even more important for the norwood news to report in light of the ongoing controversy over the use of chlorine of the reservoir, a DEP official lying about it at an FMC meeting, and bx science requests for emergency planning.
again, the norwood news is an outstanding publication. but in this case? uh uh. they missed the boat on an important story.
