Graduating Class Celebrates

With so many graduations occuring through out the Bronx, we wanted to highlight a South Bronx program that is helping hundreds of women fulfil their dreams.

Last Thursday, on June 24, 122 women graduated from Grace Outreach, a program in the south Bronx that helps low-income women obtain their high school General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Grace Outreach provides program particpants with a rigorous academic program along with college preparation and employment assistance. Once particpants receive their GED, Grace Outreach supports them in their transition to college, vocational training, or employment.

For Valedictorian Derrian Robinson, attending Grace Outreach runs in the family. “I want to especially thank my mother who got her GED with Grace Outreach last year," she said during her speech. "Without her, I wouldn’t be a proud Grace Outreach graduate and a college student right now at Lehman [College].”

Since December 2004, Grace Outreach has helped more than 537 women earn their GED.

Congratulations to the class of 2010!
