Tear down the Sheridan Expressway?

The Hunts Point Express and the New York Times offer different takes on the first meeting in some time between the state Department of Transportation and local residents, advocates and business leaders. The DOT unveiled its predictions for how tearing down the highway would affect car and truck traffic on the streets of Hunts Point, Longwood and West Farms, but the meeting didn't change minds.

  1. No. Don't tear down the Sheridan.

I'd rather have the traffic backed up from the Cross Bronx sitting on the Sheridan, instead of blocking intersections and running red lights where I'm trying to ride my bike!

  2. Dear Bronxites,
The Sheridan is a great alternative to the CBX and points along the East Side of Manhattan.

When I'm running late or CBX is backed up I make that left at E177 and I shoot down the Bruckner to the FDR and or GWB.

To tear down the Sheridan would be a huge mistake
