Bronx River Flotilla

May 9, 2009: Last Saturday, Chivalry died at Hunts Point Riverside Park! Two beautiful, calm and confident ladies took a nervous shaky photographer out on to the Bronx river. Linda R Cox, Executive Director Bronx River Administration and Maggie Greenfield, Communications & Greenway Director Bronx River Alliance, rowed for over an hour while I sat in the middle of their canoe making photographs and rocking the boat to keep things interesting! The 10th annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla was a big success with crowds of young and not so young getting out on to the river. The Bronx river's character changes from green to urban grit and then back to green with every bend. Everyone I met and saw was having a great time and enjoyng themselves. Thank you Ms.Cox and Ms. Greenfield for everything. It was a pleasure making these photographs, I hope you enjoy them too. Please click on the images to view bigger images and captions.

  3. Great photos, but I'm not very objective in the matter--that's me in the back of the first shot. I was a volunteer river guide last weekend and I think the Bronx River Alliance (plus all their volunteers) deserve a lot of praise for all the work they do on the river and in communities throughout the Bronx. They're an amazing group. Kudos also need to go out to the folks at the Downtown Boathouse who helped the Alliance make last Saturday happen without a hitch.
