As of this posting we have received confirmation that Dan Padernacht and Gustavo Rivera will participate in the live televised debate between the candidates in the 33rd SD on BronxTalk on Monday, August 30 beginning at 9:00pm. Unfortunately, despite a number of calls and emails to his office and campaign, Senator Pedro Espada, Jr. has yet to confirm his participation. We certainly hope and expect that he will agree to be part of this important program. As soon as he responds to the invitation, we'll post it here on the BxNN.
Also, invitations were sent to incumbent Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera and challenger Rob Giuffre to participate in a televised debate in the race for the democratic nod in the 80th AD that will be pre-taped, but aired on during BronxTalk's regular schedule at 9:00pm on Monday, September 6 and through the rest of that week. We fully expect that both candidates will agree to participate in that one, too.
BronxTalk host Gary Axelbank will moderate both debates.
For more than fifteen years, BronxTalk has been seen live each Monday night at 9:00pm on Bronxnet's Cablevision channel 67. It's also on Verizon Fios channel 33 and streamed live at bronxnet.org. Produced by Jane Folloro, BronxTalk is repeated each day at 9:30am, 3:30pm, and 9:00pm. Archives are available at blip.tv; search for "BronxTalk."

Why do you expect Naomi Rivera to participate?
ReplyDeleteI assume that elected official understands the importance of the democratic electoral process and would like to support that process, foster voter participation, and above all present his/her record to the voters before primary day. As far as I can tell, this is the best available opportunity to do just that.
ReplyDeleteEspada is sccccccccccrared. If he can handle a debate, how is he going to handle helping the community.
