Double Trouble and Still a Mess

Hello? Anyone out there working for the DOT?
Two weeks ago, the Norwood News ran this picture of dangerous makeshift base of a traffic pole at the corner of East 206th Street and Bainbridge Avenue as its Mess of the Month.

And though we got action -- the action made it worse.

Someone actually added another box to the previous box and put some pylons and police tape around it!
This might seem like not a big deal, but it's indicative of the way our neighborhoods are often ignored by city agencies.
We're hoping we don't have to blog about this again next week.

  1. I saw them working on it last week and thought that the "mess of the month" posting was spurring them to action. Even after the workers left I was optimistic that a different crew would arrive within a day or two to finish the job. Alas...

Good idea on having a countdown clock on this! By the way, how can they still not have fixed up the 205th Street subway station?!?

  3. Just as a side note, be advised that the post was read by Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera's staff and a call was placed on Friday October 17 to DOT. Her office was assured by Keith Kalb from the DOT that the condition would be resolved by the end of next week (October 20 - 24) It is nice to know that our representatives are indeed doing what they are supposed to do, aliviate their constituents' concerns.
