Bronx News (and Senate Chaos) Roundup for June 15

Sen. Hiram Moserrate returns to Democratic fold in the state Senate creating a 31-31 deadlock that will require of legislators an unprecedented degree of maturity to get anything at all done.

The Senate Democrats have a new leader – State Senator John Sampson. Or do they? Hard to tell who’s in charge. (That should help things along.) Court proceedings are adjourned until tomorrow morning and the judge has pleaded with both parties to come up with a solution before they return.

How a power sharing agreement might work.

Who is John Sampson?

Espada now says that no files pertinent to the DA’s investigation of him were stolen from his Mamaroneck house.

The Boogiedowners spotted Espada’s Mercedes Benz on their Bedford Park block last night, and glimpsed the senator himself. Espada’s co-op is in their building. Will neighbors be seeing more of him now that the heat is on?

Good story in the Times about the breakdown of party discipline in Albany. Best quote from NYPIRG’s Blair Horner: "It’s like feudal Japan. There's a weak emperor and strong warlords."

Senators Espada and Monserrate were livin’ it up at the Yankees-Mets game. Lupica calls them “dumb and dumber.”
