Bronx Events, Through March 11

Beginning Tuesday, March 2 through Saturday, April 24, ceramist Mara Gross's solo exhibit entitled "Women: At The Table, Off the Wall, Every Day," will be on display at the Hall of Fame Gallery in Bliss Hall at Bronx Community College. A reception and discussion will be held by the artist on Wednesday, March 10, from 12-2 p.m. and another on Saturday March 13, from 1-5 p.m. Bronx Community College is located at 2155 University Avenue at West 181st Street and University Avenue. The Riverdale/Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, is having a weekend full of events:

Saturday, March 6 at 7 p.m.: The movie "My Life As A Dog," a film by director Lasse Hallstrom will be presented. The film is based on a 12- year old boy who's summer away from home taught him lessons in his young life that he will never forget. The movie is one hour and 50 minutes long.

Sunday, March 7 at 11 a.m.: Jim White will be presenting "The Virtue of Patience" in celebration of Women's History Month. His presentation will be focusing on women's liberation from the bonds of sexist oppression.
Also on Sunday, March 7 from 1:15- 3:00 p.m.: A reception will be held for Dr. Lillian Wilhelm Masters, member of the Riverdale Art Association. She will be presenting her exhibit, "Myself as Artist: A Retrospective."The exhibit will be available throughout the month of March. The Riverdale/Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture is located at 4450 Fieldston Road, corner of Manhattan College Parkway. Saturday, March 6, from 10 a.m-3: p.m., the Bedford Mosholu Community Association will be holding its flea market at St Mary’s Church. The church is located at Bedford Park and Decatur Avenue. Donations are needed.



Tuesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.: The Mosholu Montefiore Center will be holding a Little League meeting for baseball and softball coaches. The meeting will center on the new rule changes that will be put into effect this upcoming season.

Wednesday March 10 at 6:30 p.m. there will be an Education & Libraries Committee meeting. The meeting will take place at the Community Board 7 Office, located at 229-A E. 204th St.

Thursday March 11 at 6:30 p.m: There will be a Public Safety Committee meeting. The meeting will take place at the Community Board 7 Office, located at 229-A E. 204th St.

The Church of Mediator will be hosting a flea market on Saturday, March 13, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Vendors can rent one table for $20 or two for $35. All proceeds will go to the church. There will also be a health fair between 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. where blood pressure screenings will be available. For further information call (347) 992-4361 or email larry2264@gmail.com.

    (didn't you always find it funny that the director's name is Lasse????)
    Your Life fits right into such a title with your mind games / phone games.

    The Met Museum was fabulous in the snow.
    Too bad your behaviour is lacking and unfabulous.

  2. Thanks for these great updates. There are two events happening this weekend that you left out.

    On Friday, March 5th, the Bronx Museum of the Arts First Friday event will focus on Women's History Month. From 6pm to 10pm at the South Building on 1040 Grand Concourse, an all female line up will perform a program fully composed of words and sounds by and for women.

    On Saturday, March 6th, Hostos Community College will host Mama's Hip Hop Kitchen from 2pm to 5pm. The event will showcase performances by djs, emcees, b-girls, poets, visual artists, dancers, healers, pastors, organizers and activists. For more information visit www.mhhk.org.

    Both events are free.
