In case you missed it on Friday (we were all out of the office so didn't get to post to the blog), David Gonzalez had a wonderful column paying tribute to Bill Aguado, who is departing the Bronx Council of Arts after three decades of service. Under Aguaudo's leadership BCA has built an incredible infrastructure for Bronx artists and art enthusiasts -- places for Bronx Artists to create and exhibit/perform their art, services to help artists thrive, and programs that honor and reward Bronx artists for their creations.
On a related note, if you've never been on the Bronx Culture Trolley which stops at several south Bronx cultural venues the first Wednesday of every month, you don't know what you're missing. The next one is Aug. 5. For more info click here.

ReplyDeleteYou have people on this blog making open accusations of infidelity and any number of other character assasinations and this is where you draw the line?
ReplyDeleteObviously you are of the same school of Bill Aguado in that you believe in principle up to a point. But when it hits too close to home, then you draw the line.
This is the problem with you phony PC liberals in Bronx media. When it comes down to it, you're really about your party lines.
Let's try this another way. Bill Aguado was not an effective leader of the Bronx Council of the Arts because his mind was closed to those outside his political sphere. While David Gonzalez is normally a capable writer, in this case his level of journalism is wanting because he captured only a part of what Bill Aguado's leadership of the Bronx COuncil of the Arts was about.
The Council and arts in the Bronx will be better off with new leadership.
I hope that's not too personal for you, nor anti-your own personal relationships and political beliefs.
Dear Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteVery easy to take pot shots from the shadows, no?
I put my name to what I write. I suggest you do the same, or keep it to yourself.
Regards,
David Gonzalez
