Latest on Senate Leadership

Bronx State Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. told the NY Times late Monday afternoon that he's met with both Democrats and Republicans, but has yet to make up his mind about which party's leader he will vote for to head the Senate.

Though Democrats won a majority in the State Senate for the first time in four decades, three Senators -- the so-called Three Amigos: Diaz Sr., Pedro Espada Jr. (also from the Bronx) and Carl Kruger (Brooklyn) -- have refused to support the current minority leader Malcolm Smith (Queens).

Diaz Sr. says he won't decide until Wednesday morning -- when the Senate leadership vote is supposed to go down.
