As much as we enjoyed Harvey Araton's NY Times column yesterday taking the Yankees and the city to task for not yet tearing down the old Yankee Stadium and returning the much-needed parkland to the community, we'd be remiss if we didn't point out that GAX in the Bronx made the same exact point on the Bronx News Network more than a week ago. If you missed it, check it out here.

I also have some strong feelings on this topic:
ReplyDeletehttp://newstadiuminsider.blogspot.com/2009/01/tear-old-dump-down-its-for-kids.html
on m tv show BronxTalk this evening, councilman larry seabrook said that we ought to have a downstate baseball hall of fame in the old yankee stadium and said we ought to not tear it down.
ReplyDeletei asked him, where in fact, then, would you put the required replacement parkland?
he responded that it could be built on top of buildings or other structures. and ultimately concluded that there was space to build the parkland in that area.
i've heard this notion of keeping the stadium up for a hall of fame and can't believe rational people would suggest it. it's positively looney!
if you want to see the interview with the councilman it's on channel 67 in the bronx repeated all this week at 9:30am, 3:30pm, and 9:00pm.
