It's Official: Cabrera Defeats Baez

FinalResultsIn14thCouncilDistrict

The Board of Elections has released the final certified results from the Sept. 15 Democratic primaries. In the 14th District, Fernando Cabrera defeated Maria Baez by 75 votes.

Here's the final count:

Fernando Cabrera: 2,108
Maria Baez (incumbant): 2,033
Yudelka Tapia: 1,330

(This is old news, by the way, if you've been reading the comments section in this post. We've had Internet issues these last two days; that's our excuse for not being on top of things.)

The number of votes in the above "Statement and Return Report" are categorized by assembly district. While Baez performed well in the 86th District (where her district office is based, and where she grow up), Cabrera did best further north, in the 78th District, where his church is located and where he now lives.

Assuming Baez doesn't launch a legal challenge, Cabrera can now look forward to the November election, where he'll face token opposition from Yessenia A. Duran (a Republican) and Lisa Marie Campbell (who's running as a Conservative).

  2. yikes, another pastor involved in government. What ever happened to separation of church and state? The Bronx fails again...

  3. 75 stolen votes by county. What a joke. They call it a victory we call it THEFT. When you have inspectors that had been there for years, and replaced with new inspectors by COUNTY. I CALL THIS ELECTION THEFT. Shame on a pastor to be involved in this kind of election and with these people. The losers here is our commuinty they voted against this carpetbegger.

  4. Jordan I guess your internet issues kept you from educating your posters as to who influences BOE. They are Jeff Dinowitz Bronx County Leader and Stanley Schlein County Lawyer.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm sure it was a lot more than 75 votes stolen. The worst part is that they stole from the community and stripped us from our fundamental right. I prompt the local journalists to look into this and really report the obvious and not so obvious technicalities.

The Bronx depends on folks like Jordan, Alex, and James to report the news and the fraud that took place on election day is definitely newsworthy. Let's see if they consider defending the rights the hardworking citizens and look into this or if they just concede to the New Bronx Democratic Machine and ignore this behavior.

I, and many people would love to read an article regarding the unfair and ill system that is in place, that does not protect people's right and has been historically been utilized to assigned power in the Bronx.

It will also be interesting to see how Cabrera's "Bloggers" will react to this...just watch...

  6. ITS OVER ALREADY.....THOSE GRAPES TASTE REALLY SOUR......Guess you Baez supporters had no problem when she and Jose Rivera were appointing inspectors. FERNANDO CABRERA IS THE NEW COUNCILMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Here they go they just can't face the facts that their boss stole this election. What went on in this election was fraud. Another Rev. yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Are you discriminating Cabrera because he is a pastor? Sad, it just shows the religious discrimination that goes on. Get educated, our very first minority city councilmember was a reverend, Council member Reverend Foster. One of the best congressman we ever had in the city was a Pastor, Rev. Floyd Flake. Separation between church and state, as the constitution clearly reads, is for the Federal government to stay out of the business of the church. This type of religious bigotry needs to stop. If you really care about your community, you would be focusing now on how we can all rally together in brining our neighborhood around. Sad, it just show were your heart is at.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The Bronx has one Rev. that has not been able to separate Church and State. That is Rev. Diaz. Hope your boss will not take the same road.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dear Cheated Democrat: I asked Jordan to educate the posters as to who influences the BOE but as you can see no answer. This was asked about two days ago. You are right lets see if they consider defending the rights of the hardworking citzens and look into this fraud.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree, if you guys care about the community why wont you devote your energies to working with Cabrera to insure that our community will flourish?

So I say to the Cabrera haters, give him a chance lets see what he can do, and lets help him along the way!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Cabrera will do what he is told to do. He answers to those that won this election for him. And that was not the community. If you add up the numbers 3363 voters rejected him. He won by 75 stolen votes. We hope that someone will consider defending the rights of our hardworking people. It is not that we are haters. We hate what has been done to our community by outsiders.

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh please it's so damn and sorry obvious and clear that you guys cant' take a real winner in this campaign. Now he is a thief, come on, let's get serious. The community has voted and they wanted change. It's that simple for you all complicated so called political guru's..... it is what it is and you all have to handle it. with a big H. and if you want to get technical if he stole the votes like you said he stole the vote quess what ... one of the voters machine if you want to really get honest one of the voters machines in the walton section was broken how convienant to just accept Maria Baez votes... talk about that?????? oh but he ( cabrera) is the thief... but with all that done for Maria Baez to win she still got defeated by yes yall another Pastor.... lol lol lol lol in your face! Pa que no jodan mas ya...... lol lol lol i love it... YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS now what ever you have to say after me this is what i say to all of you FUCK YOU all Haterssssssssss who can handle the real man who will work for YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. last anonymous who posted thank you so much for expressing and sharing that comment... They dont' know what else to call him, they called him a pedefhier, dont' know if i spelled that correctly but you know what i mean, they have called him a liar, but unfortunately that is the political dirt they have to come with and they believe but slaudering another human got them where??? no where. They still lost. why because they (Maria's Supporters) weren't coming from the heart and clean in this campaign; they were coming from Maria Baez campaign headquaters by the bunches because she was paying them(120 - 130 dollars) to act just like she is Ghetto Fabulous.... I say to all of you that supported the others canidates to be really good sports about it cause no matter what more dirt and BS you STILL want to talk, The best man won! Period. Hecho y dicho!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hello does your pastor know that at 8:59AM on a Sunday morning you are using 4 letter words at people. Talking about Ghetto. JORDAN MOSS these Cabrera people are turning your comment section into trash. SHAME ON THEM. If they cant take it the should stay out of here. Yudelka is right.

    ReplyDelete
  16. JORDAN MOSS can you please tell these Cabrera people that they need to show some respect for your paper and not use the words they are using. OMG it is Sunday morning. SHAME ON THEM. I guess Yudelka was right about these outsiders.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can not believe that the people that work for a pastor (Cabrera) can use this kind of Language to respond. It seems that they are the ones that are ghetto. People show some respect it is Sunday morning the Lords Day. SHAME SHAME

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is clear that Cabrera's people couldn't contain themselves and had to result to inappropriate language. That is such a shame, especially when they are the first ones to call Tapia and Baez 'ghetto'. Hey Jordan, I hope you're reading this.

As predicted the cabrera people lost it. How is the community supposed to work with these kind of folks. I prompt Rev. Cabrera himself to put a stop to this. These people are tainting his image (more than what it already is). Cabrera you should denounce these comments and put your unifying skills to work on these blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  19. there was only one person who used profanity, and you guys are blaming all of Cabrera supporters. Wrong again just like you were with your choice of candidates.

I never used profanity, and I even extended the olive branch to you guys to give him a chance and work with him! But no, all you want to do is bash Cabrera. I see all that you want to do is instigate and causae someone to react in that way. Thats all you wanted.

Then you have the nerve to ask Cabrera to get on this blog?! Well I have debated with Tapia and people who worked on her campaign. And Im sorry to say it but you guys will have to wait another 4 years to get some dirt on him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You fail to realize that the people from the church do not only comment on the blogs so please with that story you guys just can't face the fact that he won you need to stop and put your fear and pride aside. So who ever said those words express themselves but that doesn't mean they come to the church stop putting dirt on his name and to say that he cheated lol you a joke wait lmbo no you really are a joker please he won fair and square he did what he had to do to get his votes its not like he started on the last day like maria paying people and trust me by his character a lot of people supported him with out payments because of the men he is so stop being losers and speak the truth unless maria is also paying you to blog lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow!. 1 "Cheated Dude", A Cheated Democrat...and 17 Anonymous....If you prefer to not be noticed (nor counted) fine...but at least do us "old veterens" a favor....at least put a number next to your name...so we know how to answer back......

Democracy (The Elections) was stimulating......Machine Politics...was even more.....Congratulations to the new Councilman of The 14th-Fernando Cabrera

But if anyone is interested in the real "animated" story and real neighborhood election numbers of the 14th (or the 11th), please feel free to go to our blog:

  22. Anthony,

A 3rd paradigm? all of the candidates you supported got beaten by huge margins except Koppell and believe me he would have won without your help. you just want someone to give you attention. your blog sucks and your political "machine" sucks. funny how your blog sat quiet for days after the pounding all of your candidates took.

    ReplyDelete
  23. OH Nice Nice and you talk about bashing. I guess only Cabrera's people have that right.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The only thing that I have said directly about any candidate was that Tapia was a little off in the head. I never said anything about Baez, if I did it's absent from this blog. ( true to Baez form)

I heard so many different things about Cabrera here and in the streets. Again, Cabrera never went after any of the other candidates.

He found himself defending againts the dirty tactics of his opponent. Further more, I myself complimented the talent and drive put out by the Tapia supporters, and not even a thank you.

The reality that you guys were used by she and Baez should have left a bad taste in your mouths, and a willingness to support, or at the very least wish Councilman Cabrera well.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Interesting that Yudelka's people have not accepted defeat. If you look at the number of votes, it is very clear that the real challenge was between Baez and Cabrera. Yudelka was the middle person who really STOLE the votes. She took from Baez, allowing Cabrera to win. When you look at the numbers and where the votes came from, you will clearly see with your own eyes.

And as far as another Rev. - you fail to forget that there are other pastors/rev. in office. Yudelka cannot accept the fact that she lost. In any race only one can win the prize. Your blogging and your continued spreading of you garbage will not change anything in the community.

I am giving CABRERA 100% support to do the job an believe he will do a great job.

  26. Wait who are these two ladies who are running! I have never heard of them, what have they done for the community?

    Yessenia A. Duran (Republican)
    Lisa Marie Campbell (Conservative)

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is Mark Rodriguez from The Political Parent Party and I witnessed firsthand how a nobody can win an election when they are backed by a political machine. Our organization supported Yudelka Tapia for her homegrown community activism. If there was someone qualified who knew the community inside out, it was Tapia. I saw it in the faces of the people, the children and community groups who knew her. Cabrera had the full backing of the New BX Dems who HIRED union mercenaries to push fliers. Baez HIRED neighborhood crackheads and welfare moms (people who live off the system) to push her fliers. With that said, Yudelka Tapia never stood a chance and the biggest loser is the 14th District as Cabrera now has to kiss the rings of Heatie and Diaz Sr. and Jr. I can now hear those not for profit church coffers go CHA-CHING with our tax dollars. So sad for The Bronx.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mark, you really don't understand how it works. Yes, the party endorsed Cabrera. But ultimately the people had to been convinced and know the candidates and look for change. You say Yudelka was "loved" by the people....I have no doubt of that, it showed at the polls by those that voted for her. Cabrera also is "loved" by the people in the community. He went door to door and met people personally. He has previous high school, college students and church family members, whom he mentored and taught, who live in the district and supported him. His church members who also, "love" him and supported him, were there. Besides the union supports, it was the VOLUNTEERS to gave it all, their time and efforts. It says alot when you have to pay people to do something. It also takes alot for people to give it all for someone who they know and love......at no cost.

Question: If Maria and Yudelka relied "only" on volunteers, how many people would they have gotten? Cabrera had over 150 "un-paid" volunteers.

I respect the party and Senator Diaz and Jr. and I would be very careful who you talk about.

Oh yeah and you speak of Yudelka as an honest and likeable person. The word out there is that not even the Domicans like her. Also, she is being under investigation for fraud regarding here campaign fund spending.....and you support her. I feel sorry for you if you plan to run and have her on your team.

  29. Mr Anonymous #997.....Let me respond to your sad comments:

    Anthony,

    A 3rd paradigm?
ANSWER:Yes-a 3rd: The community residents & merchants-not part of the old Bronx Guard nor the new

all of the candidates you supported got beaten by huge margins except Koppell and believe me he would have won without your help.

ANSWER: Firstly, with Koppell, the analysis (by the board of elections) shows that NWB Democrats provided 14% of the vote: Enough to put Oliver OVER THE TOP. Secondly, in a 3 way race, I do not think Mr King nor Ms Tapia did badly AT ALL. Lastly , Mr Sierra, receiving 39% confirms that there are 3 viable candidates in 3 Council Districts-just waiting to be heard.

you just want someone to give you attention.
ANSWER: TRUST ME I HAVE TOO MUCH..LOL

your blog sucks and your political "machine" sucks.
ANSWER: AS FAR AS THE BLOG GOES-Im glad your still reading it. Forgive us for being "dorment" as we were waiting for both "final reflection" and board of election final confirmation numbers to respond.

funny how your blog sat quiet for days after the pounding all of your candidates took

  31. Yeah Mark have you ever met Cabrera, have you sat down and spoken to him?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anthony,

Can you tell me who these two ladies who are running! I have never heard of them, what have they done for the community?

    Yessenia A. Duran (Republican)
    Lisa Marie Campbell (Conservative)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey Mark you are being told to be careful of the boogie men Diaz Sr. and Diaz Jr. Can they get you fired? Because that is what they like to do. If you do not agree with them or the New County Leaders you get fired like they did to Anthony. What a great County we live in when we have to fear what we say.

    ReplyDelete
  34. This is Mark Rodriguez From The Political Parent Party again and to anonymous, I along with my associates from The PPP would welcome the invitation to meet with Rev Fernando Cabrera. We hold no grudges against anyone but we do expect serious answers to serious issues especially those regarding our children like reforming Family Court, Foster Care, ACS, Community Involvement with Education and the list goea on. This is what separates a REAL leader from just another feel good politcian. As a victim of the Family Court system myself, I have dealt with plenty of feel good politicians who will shake your hand then forget about you. Try explaining to your constituants that you could have prevented the death of a Nixmary Brown or prevent foster kids from being abused. Therefore, please visit www.politicalparentparty.com to set up a meet and chat, Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mark,

Now you say you don't have anything against Cabrera. But, yet you continously feel that he is wrong for the job. You don't know him and yet you want to meet with you for self interest. If you really want to meet with him, you know where to reach him.

You are already judging Cabrera for the past dissappointments and what others have done to you.

You want Cabrera to answer those "past" questions and problems? Instead why not meet to discuss the future of the problems and how as a community can help and get involved.

Think clearly about what you say......Cabrera is not the source of your "personal" problems.

And if you really have concerns........bring them to the table instead of bashing and trying to tranish his character.

You know where to reach cabrera.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is Mark Rodriguez from The Political Parent Party and I must say to anonymous that I am not singling out Francisco Cabrera nor do I wish to bash or tarnish his character as you state. Regarding his qualifications, our organization felt that hiring from within would have better suited the community rather than someone who just came inside recently. Regarding the issues that I raised, I kindly invite you and your supporters to visit The Bronx Family Court, visit the youth detention centers, visit the homeless shelters. My friend, these are not "Past" issues that "happened" just to me. This is an epidemic that has affected and continues to plague our community EVERYDAY. Your response is exactly that of the feel good politicians that make it out to be just "your individual" problem but as I started to investigate and connect the dots I saw the rampant ignorance and corruption that exists in our legal and political system that is destroying our society. You also stated that I should be the one to reach out to Rev Cabrera. 2000 years ago a famous man by the name of Jesus walked this earth as he reached out to the people in need. This is a lesson for many of us to learn, to serve rather than be served. This is another sad reality of our politicians who you hardly see at any community board or civic meetings but if you insist, I will write to Rev Cabrera and extend the invitation to meet with us. In conclusion, my "personal" issues are what got me involved in politics and I along with the many members and supporters of The Political Parent Party will continue to be vigilant and critical of those who seek office with many promises and later do not deliver because they are held back by the powers that helped them get elected. Like you, I hope and pray that Francisco Cabrera will not be one of those. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Here they go again. They talk about us bashing their pastor.Yet you make good points on things that are important to our community. And they just dont get what you are talking about Mark. Cabrera is the elected councilman, therefore it is he that should reach out to people. Cabrera will maybe meet with you but he will do what he is told to do. And Mark we know who those people are.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is amazing how many assumptions people make about Fernando Cabrera and the Democratic Party. He will be judged by the community based on the work he will be doing. You are prejudging Cabrera and what he will do. He has not even started. It just tells you how bias some people can be.

Mark, you can begin by calling Cabrera by right name. It is not Francisco, it is Fernando. By the way, Mark do you live in district 14?

    ReplyDelete
  39. This is Mark Rodriguez from the Political Parent Party and I do apologize for the error in name. To answer the question to anonymous, I do not live in the 14th District. I live in the 12th where Larry Seabrook is the City Councilman. We supported Andy King who also did not get the backing from the old or new Dem Party Bosses and that is why he also lost. We also supported Carlos Sierra from District 16 and Juan Pagan -NYC District 2. All these individuals were grassroots community people trying to bring REAL changes without owing anyone. I myself live in the 83rd Assembly District where I intend to run next year. The incumbant happens to be Carl E. Heastie. As a Democratic Grassroots Candidate, my platform will be reform, community involvement and a fair equal parenting law in NYS. This is something that the current BX Dem Party has failed to address due to the lobby influence. This is why I and many others have formed organizations throughout NYS because WE are tired of the nonsense, abuse and ignorance of the current political system. Therefore again I reiterate, if you believe in a better future for our families, children and community we have to work together to SOLVE the problems rather than dealing with the aftermath. I hope that all reading this will see my sincerity in that we are all entitled to live this life in freedom, peace and happiness with our neighbor, families and children.

    ReplyDelete
  40. All I can do is shake my head at the sight these comments. My question is, does Fernando Cabrera have a personal publicist on this blog? They sure know how to do damage control and mouth off offensive and crude language.

I commend Mr. Rodriguez for his civil discourse. Hopefully Cabrera is able to mirror those actions, but I doubt it.

In addition whoever stated that Cabrera never went after another candidate is a complete and utter LIER. Mr.Cabrera did what every politician does, he did what he even said "Turns People OFF". Throughout the campaign I heard Cabrera himself say that Maria Baez was under investigation and that she would end up in jail. I heard from his very mouth that no one liked Yudelka Tapia. This isn't the same Cabrera that once preached to never demonize others at the pulpit of this church, and yet for political gain, he does it.
Practice what you preach and preached reverend Fernando Cabrera!

By the way, this is why I cannot stand preachers as politicians. They are the biggest hypocrites on the face of this planet.

PS- Anthony, I would never put my number on these blogs, god only knows who may end up with it.

  42. Cabrera won, move on. There are other races coming up next year, including Espada and Castro. The community voted for Cabrera and now he will be our councilmember for the next four years. Again, I am shock how people prejudge before he has even been sworn in.

Mark, this race was not about your district. Find a blog that focuses on Carl Heastie. I word of advice, elections are not won in the blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Elections are not won on blogs. They can be won with fraud like they were in the 12th and 14th. 46. Hey Mark you have a supporter.......time to recruit! Let's see if your agenda gets you elected. The way you all talk, sounds like you came from the same cord Maria Baez did.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Assemblyman Peter Rivera's speech was well received by both sides. He said that it is sad that for the last 15 years this convention was open to the public it was accessible to the public, never held in an expensive catering hall as it was this year. It was a closed door convention. Where is the REFORM? Differences of opinions are no longer tolerated. We are expected to be a rubber stamp organization. And for the record Assemblyman Peter Rivera was a former Federal Agent and a member of the NYC Police Dept. and now a practicing attorney and is one of the most respect public servant not only in this city, the state of NY but throughout the U.S. You May Qualify to shine his shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  48. To the obvious Peter supporter. The convention was run in the same manner it was run in the last 15 years. The party called around to alert people who was selected. Unlike past years when even Judges Peter supported weren't picked until an hour before the convention. Peter was upset ONLY BECAUSE HE WASN'T CONSULTED. You can't be in a marriage only at one spouses convenience. either you work with the organization or you don't. And further for the record.....the convention under Jose Rivera was held at Villa Barone. The conventions used to be held in schools until Mayor Bloombucks said no. So get your facts straight!!!!!!

  60. by the way losing an election is not based on the intelligence of a person...but why would you know that...your just a puppet to the new organization and you really don't count so they don't really make you a part of the process....when a group of individuals do character assassination on their target...you guys have the press on your side...Stanley and Kappy are BFF....but God don't like ugly and your day will come...=)
