ReplyDeleteNorth Bx is the NEW South Bx
OH BOY THE BIG QUESTION...thank You Norwood News..lol
ReplyDeleteBut to TRY TO KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET........
Since 1981, when genefication then, along with political government scandals and gerrymanding and government infusion monies have turned Norwood into 2 parts: Upper Norwood (the reference) and Lower Norwood (below 207th and Bainbridge).
many old timers believe, starting on Jerome @ Gunn ironically, with the inclusion of all of the above, the new "public flow" trickled all down the hill to Webster Ave.
But Norwood is not downhill-its re-blommising. Downhill, as Robert Lopez suggests (I think I know him) was in 1999, culpavating in ; political, community and economic development loss.
Since then many organizations, including, North Bronx Think have sucessfully attempted to stablize the "skank" that receded into our Lovey Norwood Neighborhood in the late 80's / early 90's, but arrivals since then, coupled with us old timers have revived some strengths in the areas of quality of life, children's safety, political streength and economic development.
We could use your help-Reach out to all the wonderful old and new Norwood establishments-and Yes Robert, your right-downhill from 1981-YES. stablization since 2002-YES- 2009 Rebirth?
It's NOT going downhill at all... I live there and it's nicer or if anything the same as a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI live in Norwood and I must agree with Mr. Lopez that Norwood IS going downhill. I've seen a big jump in section 8 tenants moving into Norwood. Also a big jump in tenants that are on the HASA program (people with AIDS) and Work Advantage program (homeless people).
ReplyDeleteThe quality of life has fallen because of the increase of these undesirable tenants.
Very true! Too many welfare and Section 8 people moving into Norwood. Something needs to be done.
